Multiple Historical Dramas
A set built on the site of a closed mine. It features 3 royal palaces and 42 traditional tile-roofed houses, as well as meticulously reconstructed fortress walls, allowing visitors to see both ancient and medieval periods in one place.
Located within Mungyeong Eco World near Gaun-eup in western Mungyeong, this drama filming set was built on reclaimed coal mining waste from the historic Gaun Coal Mine. Carefully researched historical details bring ancient and medieval Korea to life with 3 royal palaces, 42 tiled-roof houses, 37 traditional homes, and 3 fortress walls. The complex features three filming zones: Set 1 recreates Pyongyang Fortress, Goguryeo Palace, Silla Palace, and period villages; Set 2 features Ansi Fortress and its settlement; and Set 3 showcases Yeodong Fortress. From grand palatial gates to humble thatched cottages and taverns, everything is built to authentic scale, transporting visitors to the past. The site has been featured in numerous dramas including 'King Geunchogo' and 'Yeon Gaesomun,' and continues to host film and TV productions. Mungyeong Eco World also includes the Coal Museum, connected by a monorail running every 15 minutes. Nearby attractions include Daya Mountain National Recreation Forest, Buljung Recreation Forest, and Mungyeong Saejae Pass.
