When the suitcase will not close
The last morning, the case will not shut, and there are three doors. Which one is cheap flips depending on where home is. Everything below was read off the post office and airline pages on 2026-09-11.

The three doors
- Pay the airlineSimplest, and the counter price is the highest. On a budget airline the same weight bought online the day before costs far less, which is the gap between the two rows above.
- Post a box home by EMSTo Japan and Taiwan it is cheaper than checking the same weight. To the United States, set the table against your airline before deciding. A box is charged by size when that comes out heavier than the scale.
- A luggage delivery serviceNot to your home: from the hotel to the airport. For when the problem is dragging the bag, not the fee.

- Volumetric weight: length x width x height in cm, divided by 6,000. The greater of that and the scale weight is charged. A box of clothes is light and large and often lands here.
- Hand it in at a post office counter or book a pickup. Whether a hotel front desk will post it for you differs by hotel.
- A pickup adds 3,000 won for the first parcel, 1,000 won for each extra, up to 5,000 won.
Before deciding
- Airline tables change with the fare type. On the cheapest fare with no free bag, the first 15 kg already costs money.
- The post office prices countries in zones. Outside these three, look the country up on the post office table.
- Food, cosmetics and batteries have their own import rules in every country. Check the rules for where the box is going before the ramen and the skincare go in.
